Most
people in our society look at youth in two ways: either
they feel sorry about them since opportunities in
education and jobs are not as easy as before and
competition is very high, or they do not see much good in
youth – as they spend most of their time wandering
aimlessly in malls or on the streets.
Although there is some truth in both views as
educational and employment opportunities are more
challenging, there are many examples of successful,
hardworking, and responsible young men and women
We
wanted to put ourselves in the place of young people who
would like to have the chance to prove themselves and be
judged fairly. We wanted to challenge ourselves: Can we change our
circumstances and the society’s perception about us?
Can we set lifetime goals?
Can we work hard to achieve our goals, of which the
most important is to let the society appreciate our roles
and dignity and to get our voice heard?
This is the origin of the idea of our product; the
“mini Iqal”. It
took us about two years in setting the plan for this idea,
during which we faced many obstacles and challenges.
We wanted to spread an uplifting message among youth,
and link the message with a "hip" and
"cool" product that they would want to use.
By using the product, it would remind them with the
message. I CAN!
I can succeed, I can realize my dreams, I can reach
my goals. All
what I have to do is to work hard and leave realizing the
result for God. The
last part, which is the real message, is translated from a
famous Arabic phrase that reads: "aaqelha wa tawakkal".
This phrase was said by the Prophet Mohammad, peace
be upon him. What
links the message to the product is that the name of the
product, "mini eqal", has the same origin as the
word "aaqelha"
In
addition for reminding who uses the product by the message,
the “mini Iqal” serves another purpose: part of sales go
to funding and sponsoring other youth projects.
So our message is not only rhetoric, it also has
direct benefit to youth in terms of supporting their
projects
